End Stage Renal Disease (ESRD) sufferers wait a long time for a kidney transplant –the problem is the shortage of donated kidneys suitable for transplant. But a new study suggests that undergoing double transplantation of kidneys with limited function may be just as good as getting a single kidney transplant. That means that the donated kidneys of older people and youngsters that now go unclaimed can be put to use, and that those on awaiting list for kidneys may get to the top sooner.
