I saw it in the Boston Globe today: Rose Finkelstein has passed away at the age of 101. Rose started off as a nurse’s aide at Beth Israel in Boston in the 1940s and worked there until 1976 when she retired at age 70. But she kept coming back as a volunteer and the hospital eventually created an award in her hour. She was still going strong until recently. BI’s president, Paul Levy has more on Rose at his blog.
I remember seeing Rose the few times I’ve been to the maternity floors on the BI. She would have been 99 the last time I saw her, still helping out. Amazing.November 9, 2007
