Fexon Technology Ltd. Internet Registration Center scam

In Asia Domain Name registration scam I described a scam by a Chinese or Hong Kong company to scare people into buying lots of extensions of their existing domain name at outrageous prices. Now the same folks seem to be back with a similar email and similar phone number. I’m posting the contents of this latest email in the hopes of saving others from the same scam.

  2. Just got the same. I was already suspicious because the mail, while purporting to be sent by Fexon, showed “frank.lee@bytedata.org” as the sender. SFAICS there is no such domain as bytedata.org, and the mail really came from 118.26.231.28, which belongs to a large Chinese ISP. (Probably a hijacked PC). Thanks for posting this so I could quickly confirm my suspicions.

  4. Well Please read their email carefully, I have done some research on this company and I have also received their email, but what I have done is sent them my trademark notice and advised them that they are now claiming to be Unauthorized USER(S) of the name that they have confirmed is a trademark, which they can and shall be held liable for infringement of the said name(s).

This must be done since they are acting with a title of their email “Intellectual Property Rights” if you do not have a trademark/trade name you can end up losing your domain and be required to abandon that name.

I know I have aquired Trademarked my companies through internationalnametraders.com at very resonable fees in order to protect the Name that I choose to use.

In the past I have fallen victim due to such unclaimed Trade name and was forced to abandon the name. Now I am very protected when I register Names on the net and immediately create a trademark including Public Notice, but all of this must be done in good practice and procedures. Without high cost charged through lawyer fees for doing this effective process.
Protect your name and don’t be a victim.

  5. I received this email at work too. At first I thought it was annoying because they sent it 7x a day and I thought “damn, asians are annoying”…not to be racist because I’m actually mandarin myself. The company they claimed to be interested in my company’s name was nothing similar which I thought was weird. And now this article proves that it’s a total scam…thanks for posting this artcle and letting the others become aware of this.

Anyone have any idea how they might have gotten our emails?

  6. I got the same thing from these guys so thanks for posting your blog as that has saved me some concerns!!

  7. I feel strange ,This is not a clever trick, Fexon Technology Limited is a very good registration domain name company, I already through their company domain name registration good

  8. Daniel: I am surprised you had a good experience with them. I made the mistake of registering a domain with Fexon, and I have been regretting it ever since.

They charged me four times the agreed amount. Then they claimed the domain as their own, and never gave me control of it. Basically they stole my domain and my money. I have been trying to pursue this but as they are in Hong Kong it’s quite difficult. As far as I can see, Fexon is a gang of criminals, plain and simple.

  9. I received two today — One from Fexon and one from Star East.

Two in one day… They’re losing their effectiveness. They were almost the same email.

I received one from Star East a few weeks ago. I wasn’t sure it was a scam, so i replied, and got the hard sell to register the names.

  10. we got exactly the same email as the one described on the top. thankyou so much for the headsup. luckily i searched the sender’s email domain on google and go to this page.

  11. Hi,

I have just received the same post from zoey.wu@bytedata.org.

Thanks for posting this and making people 100% aware, though I would be interested in whether there is anywhere (A trading standards body?) to report these people in Hong Kong and actually do something about it.

  12. Thanks for the post. Was quite suspicious of the whole thing and have been getting the hard sell from day 1. I haven’t spent a cent on it. I’m tagging them along, lets see what happens.

  16. I just received the same e-mail a few days ago. At first I thought it was for real but then I asked them for the price or cost of getting the control of these domain names and they asked over 5,000 euros!! I told them it was a lot, so they offered a discount!! Then today I got suspicious and decided to do some research on the internet and found this blog. Thanks for the comments!! I’m definitely cutting all communication with these guys!

  17. Hi,
Received the email below in response to my questions.
I thought that maybe it might alert others to this scam. Have to say (with a good dela of embarrassment & annoyance,) that I was stung last year by another Chines company….yup!!! I paid up!!:(
Gulp!! I coughed up hundreds of pounds & received all kinds of very legitamate looking paper work with a seal the lot!!!!
    JUST BEWARE FOLKS!

    Dear Lindsey Hedges,

Thanks for your letter.I have forwarded this information on Apr 30, 2008, but I still have no information from you, our technique department will register for the third party.

International domain name registration rules definitely indicate that the registration is open to the world, any organization can register domain names and by that some domain name investor use unwarrantable rights in the law hole. The Chinese government propound that the original company who owns the trademark and domain name of “akamuti.co.uk” has the priority to register. The only way to prevent your domain names being registered(grabbed) is that you register these domain names first.

By strict investigation,Monain is a hongkong company,if you have no relationship with this company, according to our working experience,
    there are two possibilities:
1 Monain is a domain name investment company, they will register your domain names ,and sell you with a higher price when you realise the importance of your domain names.
2 your competitors consign Monain company to register the domain names, link to those disrelated webs, make your clients confused.

If you realise that these cases may be happen, you can use your priority to register,we help you finish registration by send you application form,
which can prevent to cause any unnecessary loss of your company intellectual property,if you decide to give up these domain names,we will complete the registration of Monain within 48 hours.of course,we are just the domain names registrar,we have no rights to control the registration of Monain, only we can do is to feed back to you the fact at the first time.we have informed you ,if there are any accidents happened in the intellectual property dissension,we won’t bear any law responsibilities.if you decide ,please reply to me ASAP,contact me freely.
