AMA Moves from Open Access to Closed

Recently I've been posting on the trend toward open access in medical and scientific publishing. (See New open access database announced in the UK and 3 problems and a solution.)But today I learned from MedGadget that the American Medical Association has decided to start charging for its previously free AMA News. According to MedGadget, AMA News is the last AMA publication available online for free. It should remain free because it covers news and opinions of the AMA on public policy issues. The public has a right to know and shouldn't have to pay $30 for a 24 hour pass, as the AMA is planning.If you want to express your opinion to the AMA, use this online feedback form.
