It's ok for pharma companies to ignore patents

The Supreme Court has allowed the drug industry to continue to ignore others' patents while conducting early stage research. See the Wall Street Journal article here.As I mentioned in April (Big pharma tries to have it both ways on patents) the industry talks about the need for patents to protect its own investments in researching and developing drugs, while simultaneously claiming that others' patents retard innovation.You can't have it both ways... unless you're a drug company.
