A new use for X?

Amphetamines, including Ecstasy can reverse Parkinson's in mice that have a severe form of the condition, according to a new study. The article was published in the open access journal PLoS Biology, so anyone can read it here for no charge.Converting recreational drugs to medical use is pretty much taboo in the US. Given the fear mongering and organized opposition to the medical use of marijuana and heroin, I don't think we'll see prescription Ecstasy any time soon. The researchers don't actually recommend using amphetamines to treat people, but advocate the development of drugs with similar chemical attributes.
