An article in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy reports that many women who need a colonoscopy would be willing to wait 30 days longer and pay $200 more to ensure that the procedure was performed by a woman. And 5 percent of women would refuse to have the procedure at all if it meant having a man do it. According to the authors, the implication is that up to 1000 colon cancer deaths a year could be related to gender preference for the screening procedure.I have a client who's a lot less fussy. Rather than canceling a long-standing promise to his doctor to get checked out, he underwent colonoscopy without sedation so he could jump on a plane right afterwards to make a presentation to an investor on the other coast.Talk about dedication.
