Revenge of the maggots

Medical device makers and drug companies have come under significant attack lately. Their products are expensive, and sometimes ineffective or unsafe. As a result payers, patients and providers are treating them more skeptically.

Now here's a new threat reported in today's NYT:

“Flesh-eating maggots and bloodsucking leeches, long thought of as the tools of bygone medicine, have experienced a quiet renaissance among high-tech surgeons.”
