CVS does a yeoman's job in wake of Katrina
Today's Boston Globe highlights the solid job CVS is doing in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. The company lost several stores and its workers were scattered like everyone else. Yet CVS has stepped up, giving away drugs for free, opening stores 24 hours per day, making a cash contribution to the relief effort, sending tractor trailers with supplies, flying its employees into the affected region from elsewhere in the country, and looking after its own employees. CVS itself should be receiving help from the government, but in this topsy turvy situation CVS is essentially performing government functions because the government isn't.
