Consumer directed health plan members are satisfied so far

The Blue Cross Blue Shield Association released a survey showing that members of consumer directed plans are generally happy with their coverage. Thirty-seven percent of enrollees feel more in charge of their health care than they did before. That's being touted as a great accomplishment, but of course it also means that 63 percent don't feel more in charge even after switching to consumer directed plans.Consumer directed plans are still in their infancy so it's not surprising that we don't see more dramatic results. Members are still hobbled by a lack of good information tools and constrained by a health care system that has little interest in being "directed" by anyone, especially consumers.
