Internet continues to grow in importance for healthcare info
A new Manhattan Research survey reports the following:
- Internet has become the first choice source of health information for 32 million adults, up almost 50% in a year
- "On Demand" consumer segment emerging. They watch online video clips, subscribe to podcasts, read blogs(!), carry PDAs, and listen to satellite radio
- Search engines are the main gateway to content
- 20 million or so "Health influencers" have significant impact on the rest of the population
- Pharma direct-to-consumer advertising spurred more than 22 million consumers to go online in response to ads they've seen
