Already eligible for the Presidency --but Medicaid eligibility was a little harder
As part of its hard-hearted policy to deny Medicaid coverage to undocumented immigrants, CMS has been making it tough for infants born here to get Medicaid coverage unless their parents produce documentation proving their citizenship. But anyone born here is a US citizen --just as much a citizen as President Bush or anyone else. In fact, their citizenship status is higher than foreign-born citizens. Unlike Governor Schwarzenegger, one of these infants could one day become President themselves.Anyway, CMS finally appears to be backing off, although it's not enough as far as I'm concerned. Current rules make it too hard for many legal residents to qualify for Medicaid. And while this may not be a mainstream view, I think undocumented immigrants should be eligible for coverage, too.
