Plasmatics and Plasmetic
In the late 70s and early 80s my brothers and I got a kick out of the fact that our mother (Wendy Williams) had the same name as the leader of the Plasmatics, described on their website as:
Banned in London, busted in Cleveland and Milwaukee, the legendary Wendy O. Williams (aka "Queen of Shock Rock", "Queen of Punk," "Dominatrix of the Decibels", and "High Priestess of Metal") and the Plasmatics..."were a phenomenon." They introduced the mohawk to mass American culture, fused punk and metal when these groups despised each other and produced stage shows which included the chainsawing of guitars and the blowing up of full size cars that Roman Kozak of Billboard called "The absolute limit of what can be accomplished in rock and roll theatrics" and have yet to be equaled today... By 1982 their...video had the fearless Williams driving a school bus through a wall of TVs, climbing to the roof and jumping off before it blew up... The following album...and an accompanying video had her going from a moving car to an airplane on a rope ladder without a safety harness.
Anyway my mom wasn't really like that and actually her middle initial was different. So it was the first thing that came to mind when I read the announcement of Plasmetic, a plastic surgery blog. Plastic surgery is a very profitable business and if this blog plays it right it they should make a small fortune from plastic surgery related ads. Plastic surgery-related terms are some of the most expensive Google AdWords, as I found out when I looked into a plastic surgery business a year or so back.I don't know if Wendy would have read this blog, but perhaps plastic surgery could have kept her going a little longer. She came to a sad end at the age of 48.
