Is Patrick Swayze the inspiration for the National Health Information Network?

The other night I decided to take a break from blogging and working on MedTripInfo by watching the campy 1989 film, Road House, starring Patrick Swayze. Swayze plays "Dalton," a "cooler" hired away from another town to clean up a rough bar. What could be further away from the life of a health care consultant?But Dalton's fighting brings him into regular contact with the medical system --broken bones, knife wounds and the like. He arrives at the hospital with a suspiciously thin manila folder. (Could it be a predecessor of the Continuity of Care Record, I wondered.)The doctor (who soon becomes Swayze's love interest) asks, "Do you always carry your medical record around with you?""Saves time," answers Swayze.And here we are 20 years later.
