HIV testing at the dental office. Podcast interview with Dr. Catrise Austin of VIP Smiles

The CDC now recommends routine HIV testing, but uptake isn't as high as it could be. With the emergence of oral fluid-based screening for HIV, Dr. Catrise Austin, CEO of VIP Smiles, realized that it made sense to do HIV screening in the dental office setting. Dr. Austin has a long-standing interest in HIV, and is concerned that HIV statistics don't seem to be improving. She started offering an HIV screening test in her office earlier this year --and since insurance doesn't cover the test, she's providing it for free.In this podcast interview, which I'm posting on World AIDS Day, Dr. Austin explains what she's doing and why.
