Interview with epocrates General Manager Diane Bartoli

Epocrates General Manager Diane Bartoli’s background is a little different from most of my guests. She majored in English and most of her career has been in publishing, with stints at Random House, Elsevier and Amazon’s Kindle before joining athenahealth to lead its epocrates business.I’ve followed epocrates for decades --since they started out as mobile app on the Palm Pilot. When athenahealth acquired them about 8 years ago I interviewed the executive who did the deal. He talked about basking in epocrates’ 'love halo' and some other interesting rationales.Diane has been hard at work steering epocrates through the pandemic. Demand is up for reliable information for clinicians about covid in particular, and so business is good. Unsurprisingly, Diane has a few book recommendations, including The Winter Fortress, written by her husband Neal Bascomb. And Diane is quick to point out that she mainly reads on the Kindle.
