Steward hospital sale deadline slips. David Williams is quoted in the Boston Globe

Steward’s bankers were having a hard time unloading the hospitals in Massachusetts, and had to continually delay the process. (Steward delays bid deadline for its Massachusetts hospitals by three weeks)

David Williams explained in the Boston Globe that the hospitals weren’t very attractive and that a deal would likely rely on the state to chip in.

“When you get right down to it, nobody’s rushing to put in a bid,” said David E. Williams, president of Health Business Group, a Boston consulting firm. “If you look at it as a pure business investment, the numbers don’t add up without some help from the state.”
